Parallel Parking in Four Clear Steps
Break the maneuver down into reference points and it becomes far less intimidating.
James Mitchell

Parallel parking is a sequence, not a single skill. Learn the order and the reference points, and it becomes repeatable.
Set up your position
Stop alongside the car in front of the space, about a door’s width away, with your rear bumpers roughly level.
Reverse and steer
Reverse slowly, steer toward the kerb, then straighten and steer away as your car swings into the gap. Keep checking all around.
Take your time
Speed is the enemy of accuracy. Slow, steady movement gives you time to correct.
